UNDATED (AP) — The first College Football Playoff rankings of the season are unveiled Tuesday night. Even before the selection committee finishes its work, the teams with a chance to be reach the final four are clear. They are all in the Power Five. Sorry, there will be no Cincinnati-style interloper from the Group of Five this season. From Clemson and North Carolina in the Atlantic Coast Conference to Southeastern Conference powerhouses Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama, as assessment of the 14 CFP contenders.

UNDATED (AP) — The Big 12 has reached an agreement on a six-year contract extension with ESPN and Fox worth more than $2 billion that will keep the conference’s media rights with those networks through the 2030-31 college sports seasons. That’s according to two people familiar with the deal who confirmed details to The Associated Press on Sunday. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because contracts had yet to be finalized and no official announcement was expected soon. Sports Business Journal was first to report the deal would be worth $380 million annually. The Big 12 still has two years left on its current deals with Fox and ESPN.

UNDATED (AP) — The chances of having a 1 vs. 2 matchup go up if there are two No. 2s in The Associated Press college football poll. Tennessee and Ohio State were tied for No. 2 in the Top 25. Georgia remained No. 1, setting up a 1-2 showdown Saturday in Athens between the defending national champion Bulldogs and the upstart Volunteers, who started the season unranked and are now pushing to be No. 1. Reality Check has been calling for Tennessee to be No. 2 for a couple weeks and is glad the voters have caught. The rest of the ranking had fair amount after change after the first 10, including three teams making season debuts.

UNDATED (AP) — It’s been more than a decade since a Football Bowl Subdivision team turned over the ball as many times in a 15-minute span as Wake Forest did against Louisville. The Demon Deacons’ six turnovers in the third quarter of its 48-21 loss were most in a quarter since Oklahoma State committed six in the fourth in a Cotton Bowl loss to Mississippi on Jan. 3, 2010. Sam Hartman was responsible for all six of Wake Forest’s third-quarter turnovers. He fumbled three times and threw three interceptions. Two of the picks were returned for touchdowns.

UNDATED (AP) — If the latest spasm of conference realignment in college sports was supposed to spell doom for the Big 12 or Pac-12, somebody forgot to tell the basketball coaches. The 2022-23 college basketball season is about to tip off and it looks like business as usual. Amid realignment, the transfer portal and the players’ newfound ability to earn money, the March Madness basketball tournaments hold the increasingly fractured NCAA together.

UNDATED (AP) — Creighton has its best preseason ranking ever thanks in part to the big victory it earned in the transfer portal. Baylor Scheierman’s decision to return to his home state and play for Creighton after three stellar seasons at South Dakota State gives Creighton one of the nation’s more versatile players. The 2021-22 Summit League player of the year was the only Division I player last season to lead his conference in both rebounds and assists.  Scheierman is one of the more notable players switching teams this season.
