The Vikings survived their trip to London with a game marked by spectacular special teams play, beating the Saints 28-25 after Will Lutz missed a would-be, game-tying 61-yard field goal at the end of regulation.
Minnesota scored only two touchdowns on the day, a 15-yard touchdown reception by Alexander Mattison in the first quarter and a 3-yard jet sweep by Justin Jefferson in the fourth quarter. The remainder of the Vikings’ points came from kicker Greg Joseph, who made five field goals — but missed a point-after attempt — to help the Vikings beat New Orleans.
Special mention should also be made of Lutz, the Saints kicker who tied the game 25-25 with a 60-yard field goal with 1:51 remaining in regulation. But Joseph answered in kind with a 47-yard field goal with 24 seconds remaining.
Though Andy Dalton connected with rookie receiver Chris Olave for a 32-yard gain, the Saints could advance no further on two ensuing plays, forcing Lutz to attempt a second 60-plus-yard field goal to send the game to overtime. His attempt was agonizingly close but ultimately fell harmlessly to the turf at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

And thus, the Vikings emerged as victors in the first of five international NFL games this season (and first of three in London). For the Vikings, quarterback Kirk Cousins completed 25 of 38 passes for 238 yards and one touchdown to one interception (while also taking three sacks).
Vikings running back Dalvin Cook led all rushers with 76 yards on 20 carries, adding 10 receiving yards on two catches. Justin Jefferson was impressive in his performance, catching 10 passes for 147 yards and the rushing touchdown on the day, often with All-Pro corner Marshon Lattimore in coverage.
Conversely, Dalton completed 20 of 28 passes for 236 yards and a touchdown in replacement of the injured Jameis Winston. Running back Latavius Murray was also impressive as the primary back in relief of Alvin Kamara, who missed the game; he had 57 yards and a touchdown off 11 carries. Olave was also impressive, nabbing four catches for 67 yards and a 4-yard touchdown.

12:19 p.m.: Two-minute warning (1:56).
12:19 p.m.: Dalton can’t find Callaway on third-and-9, bringing up decision time at the Minnesota 42. Saints have all three timeouts but no two-minute warning to work with.
12:18 p.m.: Dantzler with good coverage one-on-one on Olave down the sideline to break up a pass. Saints want pass interference, but it looks like a good no-call.
12:16 p.m.: New Orleans gets it all back with a 16-yard catch by Johnson and a 10-yard rush by Murray for a first down. Two plays later, Dalton rips it to Trautman for a 14-yard gain to the Minnesota 43-yard line.
12:15 p.m.: Saints get called for holding on the first-down play, setting up first-and-20 on what could be New Orleans’ final drive of the game.
12:10 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN, VIKINGS. Jefferson has an easy walk-in touchdown on the end-around. Seems like the Saints lost him. Joseph’s point-after attempt is errant, however, keeping the Vikings’ lead at 25-22 with 4:15 in the game.

12:08 p.m.: Lattimore is called for pass interference on Thielen at around the 3-yard line, which is where Minnesota will take over with first-and-goal. That’s a 39-yard penalty.
12:07 p.m.: Mathieu is called for illegal hands to the face (a questionable call) that wipes down an incompletion on third-and-10. Vikings have a fresh set of downs at the New Orleans 46.
12:05 p.m.: Nice defensive play by Lattimore to jar the ball loose on Jefferson and keep him from his 10th catch of the game.
12:04 p.m.: Osborn has his first catch on third-and-4 for a 6-yard gain to the Vikings 49. Timely.
12:03 p.m.: Demario Davis sacks Cousins for a loss of 11 yards, bringing up second-and-21. Cousins follows that up with a 17-yard connection to Jefferson to make it a manageable third-and-4.
12:01 p.m.: Vikings face third-and-3 from their own 32, and Cousins finds Jefferson for a 3-yard gain to the 35. Minnesota also accepts a 5-yard holding penalty, giving it a fresh set of downs either way.
11:58 a.m.: 2-POINT CONVERSION, SAINTS. New Orleans makes it a three-point game as Dalton finds Landry late — but all alone — in the flats for a successful conversion. Saints lead 22-19 with 9:29 left in the game.

11:52 a.m.: Saints are going heavy with Murray here in the fourth quarter, as he has gains of 8, 6 and 7 yards on consecutive plays; the first was a shoestring tackle by Peterson.

11:43 a.m.: Make it second-and-25 from the 39 following a false start.
11:42 a.m.: Following an 11-yard gain by Cook on the next play, Cousins is called for intentional grounding after throwing it away with Jordan in his face. Vikings have second-and-20 from the 34.
11:40 a.m.: Vikings fake the punt on fourth-and-2 from the Saints’ 47, and Ryan Wright hits Jalen Nailor for a gain of 13 yards to the Saints’ 34! Timely special teams trickery.

11:29 a.m.: Dalton connects with Callaway for 5 yards for the team’s first fourth-down conversion of the year. That might be a bit of a generous spot by officials, as it looks like Callaway was brought down at the line to gain.
11:28 a.m.: Dalton had Olave all by himself going up the right sideline but the QB didn’t see him soon enough and underthrew him. Veteran Patrick Peterson made a nice play to bat the ball away and bring up fourth-and-4 from the Minnesota 41.
